Harry Potter: A History of Magic - new British Library exhibition

Tickets for Harry Potter: A History of Magic, a new British Library exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone , are to go on sale Monday 3 April.

You can sign up, from today, to the British Library website to learn more about the upcoming Harry Potter exhibition and how to get tickets.

The exhibition will unveil rare books, manuscripts and magical objects, capturing the traditions of magic, folklore and mythology often found in literature. Visitors will learn about the myths and folklore that underpin the themes and imagery brought to life in the Harry Potter stories and which provide a backdrop to Harry, Ron and Hermione’s world of wizardry and witchcraft.

Each room in the exhibition will be devoted to a different class from the Hogwarts curriculum, including Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions and Divination.

Over 100 specially-selected artefacts will go on display, some of which are centuries old and reside in the British Library. Other pieces are on loan from institutions around the world.

British Library archive material will sit alongside drafts and drawings from Bloomsbury Publishing and J.K. Rowling’s personal archives.
